Prayer Requests and Updates for June 2007

I received a call this afternoon from my niece Miranda she has asked me to request prayer for her cousin Wesley. He received orders Friday to ship out once again to Iraq he has only been back in the US a few short months. He will be serving a year and half this time in Iraq. He is leaving a wife and small little girl behind .This has been a life experience Miranda will not soon forget She stood and watched family's being torn apart wives begging husband not to leave there new born babies. Children crying for there mom not to leave them once again. Husband who just returned two months ago from the war sending there wives off to pick up where they left off. And seeing a member of her own family going off to war with the uncertainty of what will happen in his life. There were two units shipped out from the National Guards in Chattanooga today that need our prayer along with every other solder in this war. This kind of thing is happening every day to our loved one who serve and protect us. Please take time to remember Wesley and his unit in your prayer each day. Paula.

I have a prayer request for a 17 year old cancer victim. His name is Simon Mottley The cancer is in his liver and is inoperative. About 3 months ago, he was in the hospital in Atlanta , praying that God would take him on home. He was tired of the pain. Now, his outlook has changed and he says, “ When he gets better he is going to be a preacher”. He is a Christian and very talented playing the piano and singing. There is going to be a benefit singing for him, but I don’t have all the details yet. When I get everything together, I will send you another e-mail. Thank-you may God bless you. Love Debbie

Please pray for Lana G. She has had a stroke and is in rehab. The stroke was a minor one, but she is having a rough time and needs our prayers. Janet

Hey everyone- my coworker has been updating me this week on a little boy and I thought it was definately time to spread the word and get some prayers out there. His name is Blake and he is 10 years old. He and his family ate last week at a little mom and pop place in Alabama where they live. He had a hamburger. He started getting sick on Thursday/Friday, throwing up. His mother took him to the hospital thinking he was dehydrated. It turns out he has e-coli. They sent him from that hospital to a Huntsville Children's Hospital on Saturday. The infection has affected his kidneys, liver and blood cells. He had surgery today to put a stint in to start dialysis. They were going to do it yesterday but it was felt that he would not survive the surgery. Today they had no choice and went ahead and thankfully, they were able to get the stint in. Please pray for this little boys recovery and hope that he will come out of this and that he will not have suffered any severe long term damage either. Sue
Update:
I spoke with his Aunt yesterday. He was still holding on. She said it had been a roller coaster for the whole family. On Sunday it looked like he was doing a little better. She says though that if he makes it, he will have a tough time. He will need a kidney transplant, will be a diabetic, may have liver damage, and they aren't sure what, if any, brain damage. God works miracles though, so wouldn't it be amazing if he turned out just fine?? She faxed me some info on what he has, it is called Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome and it comes from E-coli. They are not sure now if it came from beef or juice. Keep praying. Thanks

Jamie is my cousin who some time ago was attacked by the dog andhad extensive injuries. She has now had to have surgery to remove a tumor on her thyroid gland and has had the thyroid gland removed as well. Thank God it was not malignant but she still needs our prayers for a complete recovery. Donnie, a co-worker of mine for many years, suffered a severe heartattack Monday and is currently in intensive care and is listed in critical but stable condition. He is only 53 years old. Please pray for him and his family as he has small children. Thanks, Donna

Kent was in Utah on vacation with his family and was involved in a head on collision. Luckily, the rest of the family wasnot in the vehicle at the time and Kent's worst injury was a broken knee cap. However, it totalled the car and he had to be flown home to Florida and is facing surgery to try to repair the knee.
Update:
Here is an update on Kent Clayton who had the auto accident while onvacation. Thank you for your continued prayers in his behalf. They are home and Kent had surgery on his knee yesterday morning. The knee cap was not broken as anticipated it was only cracked but there wastendon damage that was not anticipated. Anyway he is doing well and isat home. The knee will be immobilized for about 5 weeks and then therapywill take place. Donna

Here I am again requesting prayers for my family members. Today I askAn interest in your prayers for our son-in-law Mark who had to flyto Turkey on business. He is expected to return on Thursday. Please prayfor his safe return. Also, I have two cousins, Gary and Richard. These men are brothers,Richard has leukemia and the doctors have said that the only chance he has of survival is a bone marrow transplant. Gary is a match and has agreed to be the donor for his brother. Today, Gary will undergo the procedure to harvest the cells and tomorrow Richard will have the procedure to receive these cells. This is a new type of procedure unlike bone marrow transplants in the past and I understand it is dangerous for both men. Please keep these brothers in your prayers. Thank you and God Bless, Donna

I have another prayer request for the group. My cousin, Sue, who asked us to pray for 10 year old Blake, has sent me another request for her brother-in-law. His name is Bill. He went to see the surgeon today to schedule Open Heart Surgery. She said he is a Christian and needs all our prayers. She also wanted to thank everybody for the many prayers going up for Blake. She asked for continued prayer for Blake. I also would like to thank everyone for their devoted prayers for all the requests that come through. It is truly a blessing to know you have a group willing to give up their time for people they don’t even know. I am glad to have this blessed assurance should the need arise. Your Sister in Christ, Debbie Palmer
