Jesus asked, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the other nine?” Luke 17:17) It has been some time since we have updated our Care Page. At the one year anniversary of the beginning of this journey, it would be appropriate for us to post an update. In the above scripture in Luke 17, Jesus had healed ten lepers, but only one returned to thank Him, and to glorify God. Our family wants to be so careful to praise God for the miracle of healing in Matthew’s life, and to also thank you for your fervent and faithful prayer on his behalf. Matthew continues to make progress down this road of recovery, and yet he still has some distance to travel. Please continue to pray for him. In keeping with the above scripture, we returned for the first time to the University of Georgia, and to Athens Regional Medical Center this past weekend, to say thank you to doctors and nurses who had ministered to Matthew during those critical days. When we saw the look of amazement (and sometimes tears) in the eyes of these health professionals, we were reminded once again of the miracle of healing in which we are living. Thank you as you continue to pray for us and to send us your encouragement, even one year later. We are so humbled.
Thanks to Lisa for getting this update for us:

Be anxious for nothing but in everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made known unto God, and the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6) It is hard to be a “doer” of the Word when all around you see things that do not look so good. That is why we are to keep our eyes “fixed” on Jesus! He knows what is best for us. And always in His perfect timing. When I read this verse last week it jumped out at me. (That is because God’s Word is alive!) Thanksgiving? I never thought to “thank God” for this trial where we now find ourselves. However, when I thanked Him for the progress that Matthew has been making, and for the opportunities of more challenging therapy that lay ahead. And when I thanked him that our little family is still together and loving the Lord more every day. When I thanked Him that I have been able to be by Matthew’s side during this entire time. My heaviness started to lift and my anxiousness disappeared. Then the peace that surpasses all understanding was guarding my heart and mind through Christ Jesus. God is so awesome! Yes, Matthew has a long way to travel on his road to recovery, but the destination is getting closer. God has promised to supply ALL of our needs according to His riches, in glory, by Christ Jesus. We continue to wait with thanksgiving on our lips and praise in our hearts. We covet your prayers for Matthew’s healing to wholeness, and for our family, too, for endurance and that God would supply all of our needs. As we pray for fresh new “manna” for each day, I was reminded yesterday as Matthew walked into the post office to get our mail by himself. I watched him from the car as he walked out with the mail and key in hand. The Holy Spirit brought to my mind that just two months ago we were parking in the handicapped parking space while I helped him inside the post office. Tears welled up in my eyes and ran down my cheek. YES! God is good! And He hears the fervent prayers that so many have been lifting up to Him for Matthew. We thank you for those prayers and pray that God would bless all of those who have been faithful in prayer for Matthew and our family. With humble hearts we say thank you.
