Prayer Request for Leo Moore

Update: Leo has been released and is home. Please pray that he continues to improve with doctor's orders, meds, and diet.

Update:

This week has brought many enduring challenges for Leo, some of which have cause great additional pain and some very low moments. However, because of our trust in God and having such good friends....both Leo and I have endured and before the end of each day we find ourselves smiling about something that has happened that day.

The week began with seeing more doctors, (both Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physician) meeting with the case manager to get a very demanding schedule set up for his Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy. We also had additional schedules for the Speech Pathologist, Rehabilitation Nurse, and the Dietitian. Brooks Rehab Hospital stays on a very timely schedule for everything, and I must say they do a wonderful job at getting it all done.

Leo’s schedule in PT this week included that he begin making steps with the assistance of the walker and the Physical Therapist. Well, most days he certainly was not ready for this, because of the extreme pain in his ankles and feet. However, each day he progressed just a little more by adding a few more steps. I am proud to say that as of the end of the week Leo has done a total of 60 steps. He is still having a lot of swelling in both feet and ankles, and. they continue to have him on strong med's for the pain. But as you can see… God is working and Leo is getting more workouts done each day. His entire PT and OT schedule consist of 3 to 4 hours each day (dealing with both upper and lower body.) During other times he is with the speech therapist and seeing other persons that are working with him. So, he has a full day and it really tires him out, because he is still some weak.

Leo continues to have problems with eating. Many days it is really bad and the doctors are really beginning to have a great concern about this because all of his blood work is showing that his kidney numbers are going back down, therefore creating concern about going into kidney failure and having to start dialysis. Please pray that his eating will increase and he will not have to begin dialysis.

With the aid of medication Leo is beginning to sleep a little more during the night. However, he still seems to have some trouble breathing when he tries to sleep (so he has been attached to a machine that records his oxygen level during the night) he thinks this is no fun. Leo's blood sugar is still out of control during the evening and nights mostly. During the day time it seems to be more under control. The med's are helping a lot.

Leo still continues to have some periods of high blood pressure and the doctors do have him of med's for his pressure.

Well, overall Leo has made some improvement, and he is really trying so hard. Please just continue to keep him in your daily prayers. We know that God is able to do all things.

Gwen

Please add Leo Moore to your prayers. He has been ill for almost a month.
After lots of questions and paper work we were told that Leo would be up at 6:30 am to begin his first day. Well, they are very timely so at 6:30 this morning he began his day with all sorts of instructions. However since it is his first day he only had to do 2 full hours of moderate PT. The remainder of the day has been filled with seeing Doctors, Case Manager, and other Therapist. He is very weak, but feeling some better. He is still having problems eating, his blood pressure has elevated more, his blood sugar is still dropping to low, and he is still experiencing some breathing problems. The physicians say that some of these problems are coming from being in bed for more than 3 weeks and having so many new medications injected into his system. Both Doctors think that he will do well here and that they will be able to help him get back to walking and doing things on his on once again. They are just telling him that it will take time, lots of work, patience, and many prayers.
