Its been a week since Ella's surgery and she is as back to normal as she can be. She has even accepted her partial "baldness". (Thank you to her very good friends Cassie and Hadley for picking out very fashionable hats!) Dr. Fuchs did a masterful job, and your prayers and positive thoughts for Ella have relieved her headaches and upset stomach and have restored her to her "old self".
We now turn our attention to the cause of the swelling that led to the need for the shunt. The abnormal issue that we have been seeing on the last few scans has increased in bulk. We still can not definitely tell what it is. Ella will start a clinical trial at Duke on Monday. She will be on an oral Chemo and another drug that (we hope) increases the efficacy of the chemo. This trial should not keep her from her normal daily routine. Please pray that this is successful and that it does not limit Ella in anyway.
We ask for your continued prayers and for a few more for the other kids currently having difficulties battling this terrible disease.
