Hello everyone,
Albert has just had the two best days since this all happened. He has settled down and is sleeping some and staying awake some as opposed to staying awake in an agitated state all the time. When he's awake he is calm. He talks with us a lot - and praise the Lord he makes perfect sense! We're still having to read lips because of the trach. They haven't removed it yet because when he was all worked up his breathing became more labored and they turned up the vent. So now they are weaning back down again. His doctors seem pleased with his progress. Drs. say his lungs look much better. They are watching the pin sites on his pelvis apparatus closely. There is often infection at such sites. We're hoping infection will stay away. One dr. told me yesterday that the ultrsound of his liver did not show anything to be concerned about. But they did discover he has gallstones which he never knew. What a way to find out!! We're not concerned with them at the moment.
His dad is slowly progressing - he has good days then bad days. The dr. says he will need to be in a maximum assistance facility. He has both neurological and physical issues. And every trip I drive in and out of Grady gets a little easier and I am less tense. Please keep the prayers going. They are certainly making a difference!!!
Love and blessings to all,
Albert's wife
P.S. Today is their 19th day in the hosp.
