Update:Ella Newmiller...12/10/2010

Over the last month Ella has been struggling with her balance. Last week this became even worse and she began to have headaches again along with some other issues. We took her in and our doctor bumped up our scheduled MRI to last Friday. While the scan showed that the tumor in the cerebellum has remained unchanged since the Nov. scan (and the brainstem one is the same), there is swelling that is causing the problems. To deal with this, our doctor put Ella on a low dose of steroids (which we hate). The balance has gotten a little better, but she is still having some headaches each day.

Since it appears that the clinical trial is not doing much, we are trying to determine what exactly to do next. There are not many options out there. Two and a half years ago when Ella was diagnosed, Isaiah 43:19 was put on the hearts of a few of our friends - "I will do a new thing..." We need this new thing. We have been amazingly blessed thus far and are trying hard to put our trust in the Lord that He will continue to guide us.

Although she is struggling, Ella has not lost her spunk or her sassy personality - just ask the folks in the school office, which she thinks she runs. Anyway, thought we'd leave you with the beginning of a prayer Ella said on Monday morning. "Dear God, please open my mind, my heart, my knees, and my feet..." I thought it was funny, but with the balance issues it is probably the perfect prayer!

Love & blessings,
The Newmillers
