Prayers needed..Hope for Sebastian...4/19/2013

On Wednesday Bastian started cycle 3 of the study. We went over the results of his mibg and ct scans and they show stable disease. And although that is a good thing (no new disease spreading) his cancer is still pretty serious. Here are all the scan findings (lesions, micronodules, foci, mass are all different types of tumors and spots of cancer).

CT Scan:
In his lungs: 4 micronodules are identified and were present in prior exams.

In his chest wall: Lesions are identified in T10, 11, and 12 vertebrae, with loss of height in T10 and 11.

Left adrenal bed: A round soft tissue mass measuring 0.8cm x 0.7cm.

Bones: Lesions are identified in L5 and S1 vertebrae. Multiple abnormalities are also seen in the pelvic bones, including bone marrow biopsy sites.

MIBG Scan:
Innumerable foci are noted throughout the skeleton, specifically involving the left humerus, right clavicle, skull, vertebral column, and pelvis.

UPDATE:

This morning was Bastian's first radiation treatment. We were there for quite a while, figuring out the best order to treat him, as he is getting radiation administered to several different places on his body. They assured us that it should go much quicker and smoother from now on, since we ironed out the wrinkles this morning. We'll be there in the morning and afternoon for the next 10 weekdays. In the mean time, Bastian is napping on the couch in the office next to mine (he's coming to work with me for the next couple weeks). The pain meds have him pretty out of it all the time right now, and he's been having quite a bit of break-through pain. Hoping to get this flare-up under control soon.
